Which is the best option to immigrate?

Hi!

I'll explain you my situation and some possible options that we've considered and I'd ask you for advice.

We are couple living in Spain. I'm 26 and my boyfriend is 28.

I got my degree in teacher education in primary school in English and I'll finish my second degree in psychology next year. I don't have much practice working as teacher, just 3-4 months. I've been working in tourism.

My boyfriend has his degree in chemistry, he got a master and now is finishing his PhD. He's been working at the same university he studied the master and the PhD. So he's been there for about 4 years working as a researcher in chemistry and teaching some lessons as well.

The options I know is the FSW, I think you need to have a job offer from Canada and the apply for it. I've read that it takes a lot of time.
The other one is with the PNP. I've read some things about it and it seems to be faster. And what do you need? To have a permanent full-time job? I was told we can apply for the working holiday visa, try to get a job and then apply for the PNP.

I don't know if there are more options or I'm wrong with something.

So, what do you recommend me to do taking into account our situation?

Thanks a lot.

FSW will begin accepting applications without job offers again in May. You can find discussions in the Skilled Workers section of this forum:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/skilled-worker-professional-immigration-b4.0/

Some PNP programs require that you have a job and others don't.

As for which program is best for you, unfortunately there's no short cut to the research. You'll have to spend time reading through the detailed requirements for each program to determine which ones you may qualify for. If you don't have the time or don't feel comfortable doing this research yourself, then I would recommend you hire an immigration consultant or lawyer.

Thanks for your help.
I didn't know they were going to accept them after may without job offers. Do you know if it's possible to get it without a job?

And if I consider doing it through the PNP how do you get the job? Looking for the job in advance and applying for a temporary working visa or with working holiday visa and then get a job?

I've read many websites, but there's a lot of information. It's true I have to look into detail all the requirements

Yes, as I said previously, FSW will start accepting applicants without job offers again in May. Again, you should really join the discussion in the Skilled Worker section of the forum, specifically this thread:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/new-fsw-points-criteria-announced-new-federal-skilled-trades-class-fstc-t115576.0.html

How you obtain a job is up to you. Typically is quite difficult (sometimes extremely difficult) to secure a job from outside of Canada. You'll probably have an easier time if you come to Canada through WHV/IEC.

Thank you very much for your help. I still have to learn a lot.

I was reading some articles related with this new regulation
And this thread you gave is very useful as well.
That's what I thought, that looking for a job from abroad it's difficult...

I'll have to read everything about this new regulation.

Thanks

Scylla, I've got another question. Is it possible to get a work permit or temporary work permit while you are having the working holiday visa. Because this one just lasts for one year, so if you find a job while you are there is that possible?

Thanks

Yes - it's certainly possible. You'll need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job and who can also obtain an approved LMO. That's the hard part. Because to obtain an approved LMO an employer has to advertise the job and prove they were unable to find a Canadian for the role. Because of this, many employers aren't willing to consider foreign candidates for open positions. However you can certainly try. And if you develop a good relationship with an employer while on your WHV they may be more willing to try for an LMO.

Note that in some cases you can apply for a WHV visa more than once.
