Hi guys ... So I'm in the phase of submitting my WES request, and I had some questions.

1) I did O Levels (equivalent to GCSE in the UK) and A Levels for my secondary education (Cambridge International Examinations), after which I also did a Bachelors and Masters. Since I have university degrees, do I have to get my secondary education (i.e. O and A Levels) assessed by WES too ? What is CIC's policy on the matter ? I read somewhere on the forum that in such a case its not needed, however I'm not sure if this is correct information ..

2) Some of the subjects which I did during my O Levels are relevant to my native country only (Pakistan), and I don't think they'll be needed in Canada. Subjects such as Urdu and Pakistan Studies. Do I need to get these assessed too, or do I only need to get my other subjects assessed, namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Studies and English Language ?

I submitted my application and provided WES credentials for my bachelors and masters. There was no requirement while submitting application to provide secondary education scores. I honestly don't think anybody cares what you did in high school, especially once you've graduated from a university. Have you tried asking WES? I wonder if they even bother with secondary education.

I don't think its up to WES to decide if Secondary Education needs to be evaluated or not. They'll most probably say that its upto CIC on whether they want Secondary Education as well, or not.

Problem is there's no direct way of reaching CIC on this matter.

Nobody said it was up to WES to decide. I was talking about my EE application, and as this is a forum where people speak from their experience I can only tell you what I provided in my application, and if I faced any issues with it. I mentioned asking WES because they might be able to tell you if they even do provide assessments for that level (I find it amusing that people from South Asia in particular ascribe such great importance to O levels and secondary education). But if you do have such doubts, why not play safe and get the extra accreditation if it is available and the first necessary step is to ask the agency if they provide it.

So after hanging on the phone for a ***long*** time, I finally managed to speak with a WES representative.

She said that they do offer assessment services for secondary education too, however she won't comment on whether it's a requirement for CIC purposes. She advised me to contact CIC on this.

Is there a sure-shot way to ask CIC this ? Or is there anyone on this forum who DID get his PR done successfully without getting their high school education assessed (assuming they have a bachelors/masters degree) ?

If you have a bachelors/masters degree, you don't need to get your high school/secondary school certifications authenticated by WES or any other accreditation agency. It is an additional process that you are free to undertake but it isn't required by CIC.

Look here for what CIC says on ECA assessment http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/points.asp
Recommend that you get your Bachelors & Masters assessed by WES and take it from there.

Hope that helps. All the best!
