Where to take the TEF Examinations ?

I am based in Malaysia, and go to Singapore frequently. Does anybody know where I can take the TEF Examination in Malaysia or Singapore please ? I have asked at the AF in KL and Sgp, but their focus is only on the Delf/Dalf Examinations and NOT on the TEF.

Would appreciate dome advice here. Thank you.

Hi,

That's weird, the Chambre de Commerce e d'industrie de Paris (CCIP) says that the only authorized center in those countries is "Alliance Francaise": http://www.fda.ccip.fr/

Or perhaps it's a matter of insisting on having them take the test. The Malaysia AF website says "upon request 2 mo. in advance":

If they're not taking it, I think you should let the CCIP know and ask them to recommend a test center.

I came across this cross-reference when I was doing my research, and this cross-reference table allows the graduates of Delf/Dalf to map over their results in Dalf/Dalf over to the TEF :-


Interpretation of Results
The results on the TEF can be interpreted with reference to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages:

C2 Proficient
Level 6 – 834-900 points

C1 Proficient
Level 5 – 699-833 points

B2 Independent User
Level 4 – 541-698 points

B1 Independent User
Level 3 – 361 – 540 points

A2 Basic User
Level 2 – 204 – 360 points

A1 Basic User
Level 1 - 69-203 points
Level 0 - 0-68 points

Do you think the IO will accept this mapping-over from the Delf/Dalf to the TEF, rather than forcing us to take the TEF which is so troublesome where we need to wait and book early, etc, ?

Interesting links, I didn't know that there were such equivalences, but since CCIP's headquarters are in Europe, it shouldn't be too surprising.

In my opinion, if I only had the option of taking the DELF or DALF, I would do so!  Once getting the results I'd send them to the Consulate, along with a written explanation of that particular situation in Malaysia. I'd also attach copies of the equivalences that appear in those web pages for their reference. 

After all, all you need is to demonstrate your proficiency level through some kind of written document, the more "official" the better.  In my country-specific instructions, it says:

PROOF OF LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Test results from an approved language-testing organization (...)
or
Other evidence in writing
- Your written submission detailing your training in, and use of English and/or French
- Official documentation of education/work exp. in English and/or French
- Other applicable documentation

So, the DELF/DALF are exams taken by a well-established language testing organization like the CIEP in France, and any other written explanation would count as "other applicable documentation".

I don't know if you have this paragraph in your country-specific package?  It shouldn't differ too too much among countries, I suppose... ?
