Hi all!

I am trying to make sense of the immigration rules and if anyone can enlighten or point me in the right direction it will be a great help?

Firstly my situation, I am uk citizen, my wife is a canadian citizen and has been in the uk for the last 10yrs, I am arboriculturalist, wife is a teacher with BC qualifications. We have been together for 3yrs and got hitched in April 2013. Wife has just taken voluntary redundancy and we want to move to Canada. We have family on Vancouver island and i have a provisional offer of work in the Vancouver area.

A few questions:

Which would be the best visa to apply for?

What sort of timescale would it take?

What would be the requirements?

I have already done a bit of research and done a criteria assessment to see if I'm eligible to apply but to be honest it's just very confusing. So need the advice to make sure I do the whole process correctly.

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks

1. Spousal sponsorship. As a Canadian citizen living abroad your wife can sponsor you. She has to include a statement with the sponsorship/application "that once you are issued a permanent resident visa, she will be returning to Canada. Also include her plans for work/accommodation. The forms are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp
2. She sends her sponsorship and your complete application to Mississauga, approval/refusal 28 days, then the application is processed in London, pre-strike time line was 10 months for 80% of the applications.

Yes, sponsorship by your wife is your best option.

Have a look at the Family Class Sponsorship section of the forum; the first page of the first thread, called "Spousal Sponsorship", has a nice explanation of the process.
