Where does my wife live?

On form IMM1344Ait asks where the person I am sponsoring lives.

I am sponsoring my wife from the US who is "visiting " me on a six-month visitor record.

She has already sold her home and forwarded all of her mail to our home in Canada.

Should we list her old address in California; should we list the address of a nearby friends address in California (who would forward all her mail and let her live there if ever necessary) or...

Should we list her address here with me in Canada?

Yes her home address is still california.Where that is you will have to decide now that she has sold her home,but her home address can not be your place.You can have all the immigration documents come to your address but she is still a US citizen and must have a US address.
Im not quite sure why people sell there home and come to canada on a visitors visa.After the 6 month stay what would you do if they say they will not extend her visa and she has to return to the US where would she go?
Does she have realitives in the US if so maybe use their address as her home address.Are you applying outland or inland,

We are applying outland. Her house sold in one-week, and in a terrible housing market we had to take the offer when it came up. We had planned to have the application completely submitted and in process before her coming to Canada, but sometimes real life dictates choices that are not optional.

Thanks, she'll put down a friend's address as her residence address in the U.S. That's where all of her stuff is being stored until she gets permanent residency.

Yes as long as the friend confirms for any reason that that is now her home address untill the process is done.You can not put that she lives with you as she does not she is a visitor.And before her 6 month stay is up she must preapply for an extension dont let her go out of status.Apply out land and ask that it be processed at the visa office in the US close to your home address( like if your in the Toronto area you would use buffalo)then apply and in her PR app you need to put that all correspondence comes to your home address ok.

i did the same thing, put the friend or a family member as her residential address and put your address as the contact mailing address

No question: she lives at her friend's place. That's where she'll be going back to if her visit ends or her PR is declined, and that has to be her permanent address.

Once you've been approved to sponsor and the app has been transfered to Buffalo and is in process, you can "update" her address to your address easily via email (be sure to include all relevant info client number, full name, sponsor's name etc so they can find your file). I did that last year when I applied outland from the US but was "visiting" in Canada. Of course I was freaked out and afraid I would be in trouble bc I was not "out" of the country, but I was assured by an IO friend (she doesn't handle family class apps) that it was fine to do. One advantage to changing it with email is that they will contact via email (I got my PPR via email). Just carefully watch your inbox and junk folder. The email address from Buffalo was hardly recognizable and I almost tossed it!

The general inquiry email address at the Buffalo office is buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca which is pretty recognizable so I am sure this was not the address I received the PPR from (I tried to find the old email but I must have tossed it). I suggest you be vigilant, keep your junk mail folder clean on a regular basis, and don't delete any emails until you are sure of the contents (Cialis, viagra, and Canadian pharmacy spam not withstanding, lol).
