Where does my passport go?

I applied to change my tourist status to student permit last month, and then my study permit was approved. I got an approval email from CIC 9 days ago, however, I haven't received any mail back from CIC . So, I'm wondering is it like I have to go somewhere to pick it up or I have to wait for longer?

*I sent my passport with paper-based application to LA cic office.

I think you will get reply that your passport is ready for pickup and then you should go.

Did you sent your passport for change of status from Canada to LA?. What citizenship you hold? what is your current status in US/Canada?

Basically yes. I hold a Hong Kong SAR citizenship. My status was tourist, but after I got my approval email, I guess my current status is a student.
