How long does it usually take before they start looking back at your application? It seems that i've sent in the last piece of info that I needed to send in to Buffalo. They say that my application is under final review and then I got a letter from Buffalo saying that I never sent them my marriage certificate so I sent it to them last week Fedex next day.

I think my application could be near a decision, just wondering if anybody had any insight into when a officer might take a look back at my application to continue the processing of it since they got my marriage certificate.

My AOR date was Nov. 5 2008. So it's at about the 7 month mark. If I don't hear anything by the end of May i'll be emailing them again to see what's up for a update on my case.

Any comments would be great help.............................

You can try contacting your (or your wife's) MP's office in Canada and ask them to find out for you. London were processing our application for 6 months without contacting us, so we got the MP's office to look into it for us. They made some phone calls the same day we asked them, and found out our application was almost done and were told the date the visa office were scheduled to look at our file again.

Yeah i'll try that, for something like that when you have to send them in a document, do they usually take a while to start looking at your file again in anybody's experience? Or do they try to hurry up and get a case like that done so they can move on?

Hey Emmy,

I read in another post where you contact the MP and they told you that your case was done and approved how long was it from the time you sent in whatever you had to send them to the time that they got it and the MP told you your application was approved and they would be sending you something in the mail?

Are you asking how long it took for the MP to make the enquiry for us? If so, they did it almost immediately. My wife rang her MP's office just over a week ago and they gave her the number of the lady in the MP's office who handles immigration inquiries. My wife rang and spoke to her and gave her the details of our case. She then did the inquiry the same morning (I think she rang CIC in Ottawa) and found out they were scheduled to look at our file a couple of days later and also found out it was waiting on a background check to come in. We didn't have to send anything. My wife just called and spoke to them.

So find out who your MP is in Canada and call them and ask. If they're as quick and efficient as ours were, you'll find out same day.

What i'm asking is when you found out the date that they were supposed to look at your application again. How long from that date did you hear something from them? Like once you knew they were gonna look at your application again how long from that date did you hear something back from London as far as you being approved?

Cause I wanna know when I find out the date they are gonna look at my application again how long from then should I hear something from them?

Ah, I see. Well that's where the MP helped us again. To give some specifics, the MP's office found out they would look at our case again on the 22nd of April (a Wednesday), and were just waiting on the background check to finalise the application. The MP's office then passed this on to us and told us they would ring again the following Monday (April 27th) to see if any progress had been made. She basically said she wanted to give them a couple of days breathing space to work on it. When she called again on the Monday, they told her the background check had come through and the PPR had been sent. She passed this info on to us, and sure enough the PPR was in my mailbox the next day.

So, get the MP's office to look into it for you, and I'm sure they can follow up for you a few days after they look at your file again to see if they've made progress, or if they've set a new brought forward date to look at your file again.
