when to pay right of permanent residence fee

Me and my husband are jointly sponsored to move to Canada by my daughter and last month received
1) requests for medicals
2) requests for police checks with information on how to pay right of permanent residence fee.

My husband needs a further medical check, while mine has gone through.
We are just sending the police checks, but do we have to pay the fee for both of us now? Or when we are accepted? Does it matter if my application is further along than his?

You are not further along than him. It is just one application. You might as well just pay the RPRF now for both of you.
