When to apply for student visa

Dear friends,

I have a letter of acceptance for a PG Diploma for May 2019 intake. Since it's almost a year from now my question is when should I apply for student visa. The university is asking me to apply asap but I am not sure if this is a good idea. Can you please let me know if it is OK to apply for student visa now or should I wait for some more time?

Apply before 6 month of the course's starting date. Few people applied too early and were rejected just because it was too early.
