When should we apply?

Hello,

We are planning on going to Canada with my partner next year, in May 2017. Apparently, we would be eligible to apply for an open working permit visa.

However, we are wondering if it's not too early to apply for a working holiday visa? If not, can we decide on a day where the working holiday visa will start?

The 2016 working holiday season has been going since December/January and depending on which country you are from the quotas are almost full for this year although applications are still being accepted. If you were to apply and were successful this year then you would have 12 months from acceptance to enter Canada. Nobody knows when/if the 2017 will open but historically December/January would be usual .

We completed the survey and we now have two PDFs to fill and documents to provide. However, they're asking for a proof that my partner will be leaving Canada (a departing Canada ticket for example) but we're both applying for a open work visa - they're not asking this to me while I'm applying for the same things.

Did I miss a question (I've been very careful though) or would it be better if she applies by her own?
