Hi, my wife application for PR under the live-in caregiver program was received by the CIC on August 30, 2011. It will be 51 months on the 30th of November 2015. Processing time for this program is 47 months as per CIC website.

We have written follow up letters including an MP assisted inquiry this year. My wife work permit will be expiring on the 10th December 2015 so, we decided to apply for an extension Last August 26, 2015. Up to this writing, we haven't heard any from CIC with regards to my wife work permit and PR application.

We called the immigration call centre in Vegreville, AB several times already but the answer is the same, "have patience and wait".

We had our medical examination last April 2014, 19 months ago.

Our concern is that my wife will not be allowed to work without the work permit, isn't it? Will an immigration lawyer help us on this?

Thank you. We'll be waiting for your reply guys! Please advice.

Your wife will have implied status until a decision is made on her work permit extension. This means that she can continue to work after her work permit expires because she has applied for the extension.
