I noticed that some applicants are being asked for FP (Finger Print) however I don;t know the reason. Does anyone know which applicants are asked for FP?

There might be multiple reasons: your name matches other criminal's name, there are suspicions that you might have a criminal background, etc.

most probably when you have Arab and Muslim names ,,, by the way I am Muslim and Arab ,,, and I got FP ,,, I don't may be I am wrong

You cannot expect any helpful response to this in an online forum. How should any of us know. all you'll get is reports with insane levels of selection bias.

1. IRCC does a name check on CPIC to see if applicants have a criminal record. If there is a close match to the name and age, then fingerprints are requested to determine if the citizenship applicant is the person with the record.

you are absolutely right. Happens all the time.

I'd like to see a study that says Arabs/Muslims are in fact more likely to get FP requests from the CIC.

The fact that you may face some discrimination (real or perceived) day-to-day doesn't mean that the CIC necessarily hit you with that request "just because you're Arab/Muslim". I cannot possibly imagine that a CIC officer comes across an Ahmed or a Mohamed and writes up that FP was requested because "applicant had a scary sounding Muslim name". There's probably some bias obviously, but not for the reasons you think and not to the extent that you think. It's quite simply the case that there are a LOT of people with Arab names that are on watchlists, and if you have an Ahmed, Mohamed or Abdullah in your name, there's a decent chance your name might be close enough to someone on one of those watchlists that it necessitates an identity check.

It's unfortunate for you that we live in a time where watchlists are peppered with Arab names, but that's just how it is, and if you're being asked to prove you're not one of those guys because of a close name, you shouldn't feel offended or upset.

You may be right in your assertions. I recently applied for my citizenship and am sure down the line i will definitely get a FP request.
