When do people normally receive an RQ?

Do people usually receive the RQ within a month or 2 after the application goes in process? I know technically it can be sent at any time until oath but I'm sure the usual trend is for it to be issued earlier? Just curious as I'm still in process. Thanks.

i got RQ shortly after the application turned "in process" and some got after test. In general it depends on the CO handling the case.

1. Historically there have been 3 RQs - Pre-Test, At-Test, Post-Test.

2. Prior to mid 2012 most RQs were At-Test or Post-Test so typically from the Local Office. Since mid 2012 when CIC introduced an RQ Triage Criteria (done at Sidney) for all received applications most RQs are Pre-Test.

FOUND IN GOOGLE:

Got my hands on a copy of someone else's request. And it had a number of documents with RQ triage criteria interpretations.

(numbers in brackets - page references)

A2: FOSS concerns - no RQ if FOSS/GCMS criminality noted (5,7)
A3: previous applications not approved/withdrawn/etc. - no RQ if refusal/withdrawal due to language, knowledge or both (10)
A4: discrepancies in absences - you get a pass if discrepancies are 3 occasions or less and/or less than 5 days (29)
A5:
Homemakers, retirees, students are not considered unemployed (4,9, 18). You better write "homemaker" in the app if you are a homemaker (14).
Explanation of consultant/self-employed with travel situation (5,8-9) - they went with a "strict" scenario - any period of unemployment within 4 years + any travel, even if it does not coincide with unemployment
A6: absences to sell property/take care of ill family member - you get a pass if it is within 6 mo from landing, or 2 or fewer such absences in total (29)
C1: Renewed IDs in 3 months (3,5,9) - likely not applicable anymore, confirmation that it was updated, but no update text (29)
C2: Inconsistency between addresses interpretation - if address on ID does not matches current address per app, but matches one of the previous ones in the same app (i.e. you have not updated your ID after move) - no RQ, but you may be questioned (16)
General: You are expected to provide documents outside of 4 year range in RQ where requested - dating back to your arrival as CJs use this to assess ties (23)

Pre-Test RQ is issued by Sydney office, usually they send it few days after starting processing your application (In Process) it will show on your Ecas after 2 or 3 days after it says (In Process), and you will get it in mail after approximately 15 days.

At-Test and Post-Test RQ is issued by the local office, You may get it during the interview, or after the test-interview at any time.

I hope you don't get any RQ. Good luck.

Back in 2013 I was slapped with a post test RQ and the reason is one missing absence (I did report it and had stamps in my passport but the CBSA did not record it ). Wondering why I got RQ if you are allowed up to 3 discrepancies. Guess the officer got up on the wrong side of the bed that morning.

Depends how material these are...if you applied with 1095 days then it could easily dip you below this threshold and into see the CJ territory. Its my humble opinion that the Local Office issued RQs have more substance since the officers are more familiar with the region you state you live in and they can pick up on aspects that are 'within' the Triage Criteria but may have bypassed Sidney. Likewise they may have picked up on credibility issues at test interview when the applicants responses to questioning raises doubt as to declared residence days.

I applied well over the threshold of days (around 100 days over). I answered all the questions the interviewer asked me , regarding workplace and other with full confidence. And why wouldn't I ? All the information I declared was correct and accurate so I've got nothing to hide. At the end of the interview she even said that everything is fine on her end. I think in the end it was a personal decision of the officer and for some reason she perceived me to be less credible although she did not show it all and the residency questionnaire came as total surprise to me. And now that my application has been approved since mid may, they are still withholding my invitation for taking the oath while 2015 applicants are lined up for their ceremonies.
