Hi everyone,
I have been admitted to schulich MBA program fall 2012. The program actually starts towards the end of August 2012. Are there any restrictions as to how many days or months before the commencement of the program , i can enter canada. My student permit has been approved by the canadian consulate and my wife has been approved for the open work permit. However, the letter mentions that these permits would be issued at the point of entry into canada. I have been invited for a session in schulich on June 12. Will I and my wife be allowed to enter canada say by June 10 and respective permits be issued?
would appreciate any inputs.

wife's work permit application (IMM 1295E) can be submitted along with your student permit application (IMM 1294E), in one package. I did that. Of course, there are other forms too. Pl check the website for this. You can submit your application as soon as u receive a letter of acceptance from the institute.

for the child, pl check the website. If the child is only 6 m old, I think you need to file application for TRV. If the child is older, and would need to be admitted to some elementary school, u need to file for OPEN student permit. Of course, all the applications would be filed simultaneously .

that looks a bit too far...a gap of almost one year...actually there is no official document on this...normally embassy will accept your application if you have the LOA. But i do not think institutes send LOA so early...In my case, I tried to speed up things but finally got LOA for fall, 2012 in Feb, 2012. But if u indeed get LOA, submit your application. For early submission, they may only return your application, with all the docs and application fee so u hardly lose anything. If they process and reject, you lose your application fee etc. But for early submission, thAt would not happen. Also, this return has no effect on your future resubmission of application. But as I said, nothing official about it...it is only my opinion.

the institutes send a detailed cost statement including fees and living expenses for the student. I added 10,000 CAD to it
