When can I expect to be covered by MSP as a temporary worker?

Hi,

I am in the process of obtaining the worker visa for British Columbia, after my employer filed an LMO. I would like to know when can I expect to be covered by the public health services (MSP) and what kind of coverage would I have.

I was just discovered a serious medical condition in my home country, and I am just debating on where a surgery (hip surgery) should be performed, in the case I need it, here or in Canada. Would Canada cover this? Would I have to pay?

I must also mention that I have a Canadian girlfriend who I'm marrying after I arrive. I read that she could sponsor me with MSP to have coverage. How long would this take and when would I have access to the benefits?

The most important thing for me is to be healthy so I can do my work!

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
You should get covered by MSP 2-3 months after you arrive or actually 2 months and the balance of the 3rd. You do not have to pay for surgeries in Canada, however, there can be a long wait for surgeries if you don't have anything life threatening.
