Assuming you are already in Canada..you can do the landing at a local CIC, but you need to take an appointment first, yes. Depending how busy they are, it can be 2-4 weeks later... at least that was the schedule in Montreal.
If not at the CIC, you can also drive to the nearest border and flagpole. 1-2hours max and you should be done.
