Hi. I'm new here and have searched the forum but didn't find the answer to my situation...if I missed it, please forgive me and let me know where to look.
My wife is a Canadian-born Canadian. I am a U.S. citizen. We currently live in Texas. Recently I got a job offer to go work in Alberta as a skilled professional. I know that "dual intent" allows for applying for Family Class Sponsorship (PR) and also going directly to work there under the working visa. Our intention right now is to move the family up under the work visa probably next month while we wait for the PR application to go through.
My question is would it be faster to apply for family class sponsorship from the States side before we move there under the work visa, or to move there and then apply for FCS from within the country? According to the CIC website, it seems that it's faster to apply from outside Canada. But that situation assumes that we're staying outside Canada while we wait for the sponsorship application to go through, which would not be our case.
Please advise. Thank you very much.
Derek
