Hi guys,

Can someone please help me figure out what my NOC is based on the job duties as follows?

Job title: Client Service Specialist Online Brokerage
Company: Scotiabank (iTRADE division)
  • Open new registered and non-registered investment accounts like RRSPs, TFSAs and Margin accounts for clients followed by all the other account opening procedures like providing access to online brokerage services and sending clients the required documentation for acknowledgement.
  • Promote business development by proposing and cross-selling products and services offered by iTRADE to better meet clients' investment account needs.
  • Address client inquiries and process requests in an effective and efficient manner (e.g. registered contributions and withdrawals, internal and external account transfers, cash movement and online trading platform education).
  • Use platforms like FlightDesk, Trading Desk and Scotia Online to maintain and provide accurate and timely market statistics for stocks trading primarily on TSX, NYSE and NASDAQ.
  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of internal procedures and related IIROC legislative policies along with working as a liaison between the clients and other banking departments for the overall growth of Scotiabank.
I'm confused between NOC 6235 (Financial Sales Rep.) and 6551 (CSR - Financial Institutions). Because I was actively selling products and opening accounts myself, I believe this should belong in 6235 but a recent thread shows that a guy applied for PR but got rejected because his job was apparently NOC 6551 rather than 6235. He didn't mention the duties in that thread so it's hard to tell where he went wrong but I think this is a common confusion since his lawyer was also convinced that it's 6235 and both of those NOCs are so closely related.

Your help will be appreciated.

Regards,
Aamir
