Statement of Purpose
I have been assisting my brother from 4-5 years now, Assisting him at Weddings, Cooperate photo shoots and official board meetings and other events, now I would like to learn new skills and develop my skills to the international standards, this program would help me know more about producer-production, post-production, cinematography, studio and on field, editing and many more sections of the media industry. Wanting to develop our freelance business here and take it to increase its Standards by using new & advance technology & software which is used internationally. The business was started by my elder brother because of whom I have developed interest in the Photography and Media industry and knew I wanted to make a career in the same stream as my bother & support him and to grow the business.
My name is Domnic Johnson. I received the degree of Bachelor of FINE ARTS in Photography in the year 2009 from Sri Venkateshawara College of Fine Arts which is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad, India which is one of the best University in India. While I was in the final year of Bachelors Degree I worked with a Website as there in- house photographer and now working with Carnival Cruise Lines, I was onboard the vessel's named Carnival Inspiration its home port was from Tampa, Florida. Then moved onto Carnival Destiny and its home port was Miami, Florida.
While working in this field, I realized that the current level of knowledge and experience is not sufficient to reach to higher levels and build a successful career. I feel that I am not equipped with the business, managerial and lack knowledge of the modern technology in the media and broadcasting field that are fundamental to evolve in this competitive and rapidly developing media world. Many huge broadcasting companies in India are opting to recruit who passed out for the best colleges with good field experience with business management skills International standards and who keeping in mind all the advantages involved in hiring them. The company gets an added advantage as they end up hiring a person who can multitask well. In addition, as India being a booming economy and now as we have international broadcasting companies launching they channels, hence to serve them better, multinationals demand better quality and the best in the market who understand business and concepts from an international perspective.
Taking up Broadcasting Television program and that too on International level is something which is quite lucrative for me and the employer. I will get a wonderful chance to lay a very strong foundation for my career with focus on Broadcasting television media and photography. And coming to the employer, it would be beneficial to the company to hire a competent person who has global mindset can develop and stand up to international standards and has, experience in both the field of Photography and Broadcasting Television Media which would be advantage as they end up hiring a person who can multitask in both the departments. I am sure that having this diploma would ensure better employment opportunities and a successful career back at home.
After going through different college and applied for Fanshawe college. Now decided and opted to go for 2 year Broadcasting Television at Fanshawe college, according to the research I have come to learn that Fanshawe college is one of the finest college for such a program as Broadcasting Television, the college encourages its student to go out in the field to cover live events with the camera and latest technology Fitted OB van which gives them on-field job experience even before completion of the course and the college also has its very own television channel which broadcasts the program which have been directed and produced by broadcasting television department students. It is also one of the biggest college in Ontario, when compared with campus size, program offered, number of international students and college ranking in Ontario.
This 2 year course program structure will help me in learning in depth of the modern methods of working and keeping up with the high end technology used in the market, Equipments and also will teach me about the new Software which is used in the Industry , On-Field as well as in the studios.
To sum it up, I would like to state that having quality education and ample exposure in the this 2 years course duration will help me building a strong foundation and I would be with high standards compared to the rest of the peers out in the same field of study.
