What will happen with my two years as a TW?

Dear all,

I came to Quebec on May 2011 as a temporary worker and in late December 2013 I obtained PR.

Now we have a situation where the new citizenship law is requiring 4 years and I believe that they will not count any days towards citizenship for temporary workers.

My concern is when I apply for citizenship, will they accept my two years as a TW as one year towards citizenship or they'll vanish although they happened before the new law even existed?

They will vanish. There is no confusion with this part of the new legislation.

Correct. Only PR time counts.

And just to be clear, even under the old Citizenship Act, 2 years as a TW would only count as one year towards your citizenship qualifying period.

That is all that is needed to qualify under the old rule. This is why applicant must be at least PR for 2 years before qualifying. 2 years as TW count as 1 year plus 2 years as PR add up to 3 years to qualify.

Since the OP landed in late Dec 2013, he can't qualify under the old rule until Dec 2015. By then the new rules will be in effect.
