Hi Everyone,

I am newly registered member and very happy to see this blog made for those people who are seeking advice esp. on Canadian Visas.

"My elder brother has immigrated to Canada in Aug 2007 with his wife and two children and currently he is studying there on 'OSAP'. Now he wants to invite my Father and Mother on visitor's visa. (My Father is a retired person and my mother is a housewife). As my elder brother cannot support my parents financially because he is a student and does not have a job and enough money. However my Father will financially support himself and my mother during their stay in Canada. Also my parents will show strong ties to our home country (by showing assets & funds)."

My Question is that: How does the invitation letter be written by my brother to support the above mentioned situation as he does not have a Job and Money? Can my parents apply for visitor's visa in a given circumstances, what are the chances?

Thanks for your suggestion.

From Pakistan

hello,
in the invitation letter it's usually mentioned that invited person will be provided with place to live and will have a financial support during stay. in your case your brother needs to mention just about accommodation. your father will need to show the proof of funds and ties to the country of residence, the rest will be depended on the visa officer. chances to get application approved 50 - 50.

Thanks for your reply Suin!

Should the invitation letter be notarized or its enough to have it on a plain paper, signed by my brother and sent it to us a scanned copy through email ?

Thanks for you suggestion.

Kind Regards

Thanks Suin for immediate response!

My sis (she is single) also want to apply with my parents. She has done MBA and working since 6 years in a multinational bank, therefore, she has a strong commitment to come back to home town.

Question: Should my parents apply along with my sis or both should apply seperately ?

Thanks for your suggestion.

Kind Regards

Your sister should apply on her own. Be sure to attach her COE and approved leave of absence. A good job normally is a good tie for showing she would go back when her visit is over.

What is COE?
Sorry (you need to buy a vowel :)) Certificate of Employment. No, you need more consonants. Anyway all the best to your parents and your sister.

I really appreciate your urgent responses. Job_Seeker.

Do my parents and sister require seperate letter of invitations from my brother or he should send only 1 letter and includes the name of my sister in it along with my parents.

Kind Regards

Do you have other brothers and sisters that will be left in your country? I think separate invitation would be better. Will they be going to Canada all at the same time?

if they travel at the same time, one and the same letter for all of them can work too.

Thank you for the responses!

We are 2 brothers (including myself) and 1 sister. As my elder bro is in Canada and my sister is also planning to visit there, I will stay in my country while my parents and sis travelling there.

I don't know why but I am not feeling comfortable to file my parent's and sister's case in one application.

Please advice.

Thanks & Kind Regards

Your parents could apply together. I don't see how your sister could apply together with your parents seeing she's not their dependent anymore. Your parents have different supporting papers from your sister.

Yeah! my sister is not dependant.

I am uncomfortable in applying my parents and sisters case together (I mean, mail their papers to embassy together) because in an invitation letter, my brother will write that my parents will return within the scheduled period as my younger brother and sister are not accompanying them. In my view this will be a major commitment for my parents to return to their hometown.

If this will not increase the chances to get visa, then why should I go for two invitation letters (one for my parents and one for my sister). I will tell my brother to write one invitation letter for my parents and sister and I will mail their applications together.

Please advice.

Kind Regards
