What do I say at the US Canadian boarder. I am going to apply for PR status from within Canada.

My wife of 24 years is a Canadian, she has been living in the USA since 1968 with a resident alien card. We have three kids, USA Born with proof of citizenship papers. From my research my spouse is sponsoring me once we are in Canada, as that provides the quickest route for me to become employed.

Any suggestions on what to say at Customs?

Pay all of your PR application fees in advance ($1040) and bring the receipt with you. Start filling out the application paperwork in advance and bring that with you as well. This will demonstrate that your wife and you have started the process of obtaining status for you in Canada and understand what's involved / what you have to do.

Let your wife do the talking at the border (she is the Canadian). She should explain that your family (with the exception of you) are returning Canadians and that you (the American) are entering as a visitor only. She can also explain that she will be filing to sponsor you for PR, have paid the fees and are a good way through completing the paperwork (don't show the proof unless asked).
