hi all

I hired a consultancy company to do the paperwork and have submitted the application at the end of April, 2024.

The next step, according to the consultant, is to apply for the work permit in June, 2024.

My questions:
- After applying for the work permit, how long should I expect to receive it, if I file it in June, 2024 as planned?

I was told to expect it by around September or October, 2024, does this sound real? Because from the government website, the SUV generally takes 37 months to process. This seems to contradict with what the consultant stated?

- Suppose the work permit petition is approved, once I got the work permit letter, how soon should I enter Canada?

Thanks, appreciate your feedback

Dear both are different applications… PR is main application while Work permit under SUV as essential partner is supplimentary application made before IRCC. The timeline of 37 months approx given at IRCC website is meant for main case of PR while WP application takes 2-4 months approx. We also applied in June-July 2023 under SUV stream by 05 of our team members and one of my team mate who is also essential partner, had applied for her WP in June 2023 but astonishingly still her WP case is pending before IRCC after lapse of almost 11 months.

11-month is too long, did you get AOR yet? Did IRCC request progress report for the long wait?

After applying for my PR under SUV on 06/07/2023 as non-essential partner, I received AOR in a couple of, did my biomatrics and medical in Nov 2023, my first and 2nd ADR in January 2024 and February 2024, got my PAL on 29 March 2024, and now waiting for my PPR

Expect to receive the work permit by September or October 2024, despite the government's 37-month processing time. Once you receive the work permit letter, enter Canada promptly.

The realistic timeline for the SUV (Start-Up Visa) work permit is typically around 12 to 16 months from the time of application submission, but this can vary depending on specific circumstances and processing times.

Thanks, I think the timeline varies, but I am convinced that 2-3 months are less likely to get it

The realistic timeline for a Startup Visa (SUV) work permit in Canada can vary, but on average, it takes about 1 to 3 months for the initial work permit application to be processed. However, processing times can fluctuate based on factors such as the country you're applying from and the completeness of your application.
For the permanent residency (PR) portion of the SUV program, the timeline is typically around 12 to 16 months after submitting your application, depending on the complexity of the case and immigration office workload.
It's important to regularly check IRCC processing times and ensure all documents are accurate and complete to avoid delays.

Hi,
Please Can you share how you did it? I would like to apply through an agency. Maybe you can share their link.

Thank,

Hello.
I am struggling to get my head around the practicality of changing employers under skilled worker visa under the current timelines for visa processing.
I am on a valid skilled worker visa up to 2027, but to change employer, the employer must issue a new CoS and I should submit a new visa application.
As far as I understand I can't join the new employer until I get a decision on my visa application, which as per current timeline can take several months (even with super priority service).
I am not aware of any employer who will wait for a new employee to join for several months.

How this ever can be practical?
Any experiences?
