what is the dead line of older system? is it 31 Dec 2014 or31 April 2015

I and my wife see that there is the new express fsw application coming in 31 Dec 2014. This is bad news for us as we got more points and more chances on the older system. Does the older system die 31 Dec at midnight or can we still apply: originally they talked about doing till 31 April 2015. Will the two systems overlap?
