a friend of my wife wants to visit my wife sometime next year, (my wife finally got her PR last month btw :-)
She's a friend from many years ago who presently lives in Oman and wants to visit my wife here in Canada for 6 months.
I can easily support that person for that time period, in fact, she can easily support herself too.
Now; what I'm afraid of is her being refused entry at the airport once she arrives. You never know!
Therefore; should my wife's friend apply for a 6 month TRV and wait for it to be approved by CIC before she leaves Oman; or,
should she ask for the 6 month TRV at the airport upon arrival here in Montreal and hope that CBSA will approve it?
Thank you very much everyone,
(You were extremely helpful in helping me sort things out for my wife's spousal PR)
Sincerely,
Laurier

TRVs aren't granted at airports. If your wife's friend needs a TRV to enter Canada then she has to obtain one before she travels. Without an approved TRV, she won't even be allowed to board the airplane to come to Canada (the airline will refuse her boarding).

I'm not too bright about that I guess .. it's ok, I'm learning!
thank you for the answer scylla
take care
