Master of Computer Science (M.C.S.), Co-op option.
SCS and EECS offer a Master of Computer Science Co-op option. SCS offers the co-op option both for the thesis and non-thesis MCS. EECS offers the co-op option only for the non-thesis MCS. Co-op students complete two work terms of four months each in addition to the other requirements of their program. The first work term is taken after two terms of course work. In EECS, the two work terms must be taken successively; in SCS, they may be taken successively or be separated by one or more study terms. At Carleton University, a co-op placement may be undertaken during any of the co-op placement cycles (January, May or September). At the University of Ottawa, a co-op placement may be undertaken only during the May co-op placement cycle.

In this Co-op means what? is they conduct any internship programs through interviews? what will happen if we not select in interviews? please help in knowing this..

Happy to help you with this again!

i have applied for co-op MSc in industrial systems, at university of Regina winter 2016 intake. here is how it works in all universities.

Coop which is co-operative education is a work term that is part of your academic program. For completing a co-op you must have worked in an organisation (can be paid or unpaid). After completion of all coop terms you will have to submit a report, like an understanding and knowledge gained for which you will be given credits. Coop is not an internship it actually carries marks that is needed for your course completion and you will actually have more responsibilities in the organisation you work in a coop compared to internships.

Firstly you should get a coop visa to be eligible to take up the coop term. You will have to get an admission in a coop masters, while applying for student visa you should also apply for coop work permit. Only upon getting the coop work permit you can pursue the coop course, else you will not be able to take up the course.

If you fail to get accepted by any companies(very rarely), you will have to take up the normal non-thesis(MEng) path. Your coop terms will be replaced by normal classes.

Interviews are not like campus recruitment in india. there will be some companies that will take you from campus, but if you are smart enough, you should try to build some network through alumni etc(if you want a high paying job or top companies). Either way you will have decent opportunities on campus for co-op jobs don't have to worry about rejections

In U of R 30 credit hours refer to 2 year course. 6 credits in fall and winter, 3 credits in summer.
