A TRV and a visitor visa are effectively both the same thing. They allow you to visit Canada for a short period of time as a tourist.

To be approved, you must show strong ties to your home country and prove you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

There is no age limit. However once you are in your late 30's or older, it starts becoming much more difficult to qualify.
