Dear all
I hope all is doing great
I have a question and I hope someone puts my worrying and doubts to rest.
Now I soft landed almost 8 months ago and I as most do stayed in an airbnb for 20 days.
Then now I am planning on moving to Canada permanently by September and will most probably stay in an airbnb until my rental agreements get sorted out.
Now when I apply for citizenship, I know that it's not a must to provide any proof of residence but what if in the interview or something this happened what is considered as a good enough airbnb proof?
Given that the receipt and the details doesnt have my name, it just says 1 guest and how much I paid for how many nights.
So what else could be used, a bank statement indicating the payment? Or what?

But it will count anyways right? This airbnb will be in September 2020 and I landed in Nov 2019. Where I also stayed in an airbnb so to remove it I will have to stay for a whole year

You might want to take the "balance of probabilities" approach i.e. overwhelm the judge with evidence. Find any and all receipts, bank documents, application for health card, etc.
But that may not be worth it, since it's probably way simpler to wait for some more time to submit your application and make your citizenship application incontrovertible. You'll probably lose much more time going through secondary review than a straightforward accept.

You will have to list all your addresses in past 5 years from the date of signing the form. But the question is how do you prove that you live in the first airbnb in 2019 and other airbnb in 2020? So the best way is you don't count the days in airbnb.

But how can I do that will waiting a collective amount of 40 days over solve the issue? As in negate it?

You said 20 days. A whole year is another story. Time in Canada is normally calculated using CBSA entry data and your self reports on exits.
Yea 20 days but what I meant that in order to remove those 20 days I will have to apply 1 year later than my application eligibility. This is because they count 5 years before the application date and to remove 2019 I will have to apply in 2024 while I am actually eligible in 2023

You've answered here: will waiting a collective amount of 40 days over solve the issue.

But that would mean waiting a year to remove 20 days or something

So not waiting a whole year to negate 2019? I mean does it work that way? The officers doubt presence in 20 days and if they find the applicant has 30 days over his/her minimum presence they will count it?

You are right that you will have to provide your address history from the 5 years preceeding your application. People are not telling you to spend enough time to fully negate the whole year, but instead like this:

Let's say you spent 20 days in Airbnb the first time, went back to your country, and spent 30 days in another Airbnb after you came back while looking for a new place. When you are getting ready to apply for your citizenship, simply wait an extra 50 days (1145 days in total, for example) so you have the 50 days you spent in the Airbnb + the easy to prove 1095 days of your permanent addresses.

Doing this you'd be able to easily find proof (lease agreement, rent payments, IDs with your permanent address, etc) of the required 1095 days to qualify for Citizenship.

Will you be going to some sort of school or working while living in AirBnB? That can provide evidence that you were in Canada at the time you stated for your residence. I lived in Airbnb for first 3.5 months when I first landed but I was also doing a short-term course while living there so that was proof that I was in Canada at that time. I applied for my citizenship with a buffer of about 45 days as I wasn't that concerned about my airbnb time.

Same.. I stayed in a hotel for 2 weeks then an Airbnb fit another 2 weeks but kept a total of 2 months as buffer... why would I risk everything over 30days.. I like to play it safe and don’t want cic asking me for more documentation or proof or come out as an idiot who can’t count days.. my advice always play it safe.. waiting 30-60days extra days is completely worth it

The eligibily period isn't about calendar years. Simply the 5 years prior to your application. It can be from the 15th of July 2015 to 14th of July 2020.
