I think what people mean by "straight foward case" is When the couple is Solid commmon-law or conjugual relationship or First marriage, no dependants on eachside, Age gap is not too much, no Criminal record on both sides, Can prove the genuiness of their relationship. And have not travel around the world too much(like lived more than 6 months in different countries, mostly for principal applicant.) And also both come from similar backgrounds...

"And the couple should have a BIG Marriage with loads of functions and relatives." Couple should be of same religion, they should speak same language, they should be of the same social level etc..

When they fill the PR application they should overload the Immigration Officers with loads of their pictures, greeting cards, emails, phone records, they should also write letter to the IO explaining about their relationship (like how did u meet and how the relationship grow). Send as many things as possible so that IO has no reason to reject your application or call u for an interview.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say "overload". Quality is better than quntity when it comes to that. And one has to question whether an IO would be more suspicious with piles and piles of stuff, asking "why is this person trying so hard to prove their relationship?" Its a happy balance when it comes to what to provide. It's like when you cross the border, the more you tell them, the more questions they ask. You want to tell them what they need to know, clearly and truthfully, but be careful not to go completely over the top.

And also, a BIG wedding is not completely necessary. Having parents and other family members helps prove that it is genuine, but you don't have to go overboard inviting lots and lots of people.
