What is an application number?

CIC is asking for my application number before they can respond to my email. I have a UCI and an IME number but no idea where to find the application number. They said it should start with an 'E'.

Help?!

My application number started with F and it was on top of my Sponsorship Approval. Looked like this:

Application: FXXXXXXXXX (9 numbers).

In my correspondence to the office I've called it my file number. They don't seem to mind.

Now, they're asking for my file number! I've given them my IME number and my UCI number. Don't understand.

When the sponsor receives AOR, he gets CIC number and Application number. Both are at the top of the email.

Yes. On ECAS too it shows up as: Immigration Application Number/File Number
