What industries can I work in on an open work visa?

I am an Australian citizen who is about to move to Canada under the IEC open visa. I am finding it difficult to see exactly what industries are available to me.

I am a teacher with formal qualifications and years of teaching experience in various countries- I know finding a teaching job in Ontario is close to impossible; but, does my visa allow me to work as a teacher (if I can find the position) or does it limit me to customer service positions?

Aside from the obvious (not in the sex trade) I have found it difficult to find this information.

Thanks for your help.

IEC is an Open Work Permit, so you can generally work in whatever profession you want, minus a few restrictions.

If you have not undergone a medical, then certain professions, including pretty much anything to do with children, are off limits. See here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp.

You also will not be able to work in some government positions that require certain security clearances or Canadian citizenship.

Perfect, thank you so much.

Because of the countries I have lived in previously I had to take a medical anyway- this has apparently worked in my favour :D
