Just a little curious about the inner workings of the CIC. I send out my paper application (and all the things on the checklist and receipt) for a visitor extension in April. Called the post office so I know it has arrived. How long does it take for them to get to it? To see it? What if they dont even see it before the expiration date of my passport? I'm still on implied status right? What if they dont see it until, say...June?
Now, what happens if say...I have am emergency back home in Arizona, and I have to leave May 20th (my passport for this stay expires May 14th) I have not heard back from CIC or even sure they see it...so i go back, but now it looks like I've over stayed my visit. Would I have to inform the boarder officers at the air port that I put in an extension (showing my receipt) but I had to leave as something came up?
