What happens if applied in one country and then need to go another?

Hello everyone
I applied online two months ago a work permit while I am in the USA. My visa will end in a month and I don't think I will a get a decision by that time. What happens when move back home while my online application is the US office? What if I get an approval when I'm already home? How do I get my visa? I'm afraid that after all waiting they will just transfer to my country where I will need to wait in line for several months again.
I can try to extend my current stay in the USA.
