what happened to visa specific wait times

How we do know what stage we're at? I applied in Aug 2015 and both mine and my wife (who I am sponsoring) says "Application in Process" and we start your application on Sept 2015.

Before there used to be a section that showed visa specific wait times like HongKong was 11 months but now it always says 17 months for outland? Did something change? Anyway to know when we should expect?

Yes. It's 17 months for all the countries now. Not sure what triggered the change but i've heard some VO are processing the files really quickly these days. Good luck!.

I'm guessing it's because processing times are all over the place depending on where your application is being processed. Some countries can take a year and a half while others may only take 6 months.

I think that 17 months is more of a maximum time than "average". From what I've noticed, most people get their copr between 8-14 months in most countries.

Your best bet to get an average time processing time is to look for a Hong Kong Outland thread, or a place where other people who are moving from Hong Kong are posting. They can surely tell you exactly how long it took them, which would give you a general idea of how much longer you would be waiting for.

Of course if you have a difficult case or a very simple case, your times may vary from other people's.
