What documents to bring to rent an apartment?

Hi guys,

Sorry to post it here but it's just much more responsive here.

My wife and I will soon land in Toronto. We are both newcomers and will receive the PR card after doing the landing process. We both DO NOT yet have a job in Toronto. The plan is that my wife stays, settles and I will return to my homecountry to continue working.

What documents are needed in order to rent an apartment in Toronto? Would I need to give them some employment proof from my Job outside Canada? What more? What documents do the landlords typically request from new immigrants who have no history whatsoever in Canada?

Your identity documents. Proof of fund. They will ask your credit information or look up your credit information.

Idk whether they will accept your job letter, just bring it with translation if needed. (I think they should accept that though.)

Anyway, if they do not accept your job letter or have question about your blank credit report, you can just give them more deposit.

Not every place will ask for your credit check. As long as you have a valid ID and talk nicely with other party
They will accept you
They might ask you to sign a rental agreement for 6 mnth or a year which basically says that they cannot ask you to leave before 6 months and you cannot also leave before 6 months.
Landlords usually ask for first and last month rent. So you pay 2 months rent upfront and you notify them 1 month before leaving and dont pay the last month rent. Thats first and last
