I accidentally posted the same topic twice (double clicked), so I am asking a question I have been meaning to ask.

What do you wish you would have known about applying, immigration, paperwork, processing or sponsorship that you wished you would have known before you applied? Any advice you wish would you have received prior? What's the best tip you could give someone about to submit their documents?

I don't know if you will uncover anything in this manual but thought it might help somehow. Sorry you have to wait all weekend for answers. All the best.

hi there, i wish
* i would known about the communication proof, i would definitely collect all from the beginning which i called my husband for hours....
* I would definitely get & collect all the evidences with my family with my husband & husband's family with me together every time we met & got together (photographs)...
* I would definitely get all the photocopies of everything i submitted to the cic..... ect......

To have submitted it sooner ::)

We keep all docs having gone through this before for UK immigration.

You can submt your honeymon receipt if you were, you can submit a receipt of the gifts, aany support letter from your family or his family that showing your relationship is strong, pictures together , txt mesages, emails, i remebered they asked for my ariliens tickets to show that i went to visti my husband during our dates, and during waiting time ..

I'll post for the flip-side. We sent our application BEFORE we found this forum, and our application was very "light" shall we say. We submitted 60 photos, a couple of sight-seeing receipts, and our "story" was 3 sentences in total. I sent it from Canada via "regular" mail.

SOOOOO . . . I am glad that I DIDN'T know/find this forum beforehand. Our tip - don't let others (perhaps from here) freak you out about sending in less than a 7 to 10 lb box of riff-raff. If you have enough, then you have enough, and if you're applying from a country with a difficult VO then so be it, it may still be difficult no matter what you. Enough said!

I also found this forum very recently after i was refused. then i got to know what we should submit with the application. you think that you are lucky enough to got to know about this thread before apply. & follow this
1. Pictures - from the day you two met each other (if you have - not 50 or 100, as much as you can)
2. communication proofs - Skype detail sheets with each other
- Skype screen shots when you two are talking with each other & you too are talking with family member's of each other's
- telephone detail sheets
- emails
3. fb posts to each other, comments to each other, others comments about you two seems that you two are husband & wife, both of your family members as mutual friends
4. greeting cards
5. letters
6. if you are the wife, the proofs to show that you are using your husband's last name from the day you married (the letters came over mail on your name with your husbands last name, receipts on your name with your husband's name, invitation's from others on your name & any kind of document on your name with your husband's last name ect..... )
7. receipts of you & your spouse bought gifts to each other
8. supporting letters from friends & family
9. travel itinerary to your spouse's country (if you have traveled to see each other) & copies of the visas on the passport each times
10. document proofs for the ability to work anywhere (to show that you can work & earn when the applicant comes to canada & the proofs of work experiences)
11. spouses working ability & proof of earning
and many more if you have relevant to your visa ..... good luck..................

There is no requirement for a wife to change her surname after marriage. Whether a wife changes her surname after marriage is a choice - it's certainly not a requirement for immigration. I kept my maiden name and our file was processed in four months.

anybody can use any name in this world any where, no matter what. you can use any name even other name rather than name on your birth certificate.
i'm also still using my maiden name for the banking & my businesses. only for few things i'm using my marriage name (husband's last name as my name).
theres no any rule or regulation to use the husband's name. i know that. but if a woman married to a person normally she is using her husband's last name as her name. after you marry someone, other's call you by your husband's last name (if you marry to Garry Silva, others may call you Mrs. Silva). its better if you can use your husband's name. no matter anybody use any name. immigration consider about that too.
i'm trying to help others.

& one more thing I must remind you
don't forget to certify your all the copies of your original documents by a lawyer\notary public (its mentioned on your application guide)
