Hi friends,

I am a new member here! I've read some of the posts and liked the invaluable knowledge sharing among people.
OK! I have a question and appreciate your recommendations.

Actually I am now doing my PhD and am interested to apply for Skilled Worker Migration. My question is, do you think if I should use the services and consultations from a company (agency) to start the process of my application or not? Specially because I don't want to loose my chances of getting PR due to my being non-professional with the whole process. And if yes, do you recommend the agency to be from Canada or locally from where I am applying (in my case in Malaysia as I am residing in Malaysia)? What do you recommend?

Regards
Mostafa

Hiring the services of a consultant does not grantee you the PR. In these blogs some of the cases also get delayed only because of consultants. All the applications are pretty simple and they have guide in pdf too to fill up the application. The first think you need to know is whether you are in the 38NOC and got job experience in the same NOC.

I've been a senior Planning Expert in a construction company, but I'm not sure if this job title can be found in the NOC. Actually I couldn't find it directly. What can we do if the exact job title is is not available in the NOC list? Can we choose the closest job title?

In my expereince, yes the consultant does delay things, and in hindsight I wish I had taken the time to understand the process myself before recruiting an Agent....I would have saved a lot of money and I'm sure things would have gone a bit quicker than the 4 years I have currently been waiting. I honestly don't think it's as complicated as it's made out to be.

In respect of the NOC code, I used the closest that matched my job description, not the same job title......it seems to have worked as we have been called to take Medicals..

I hope this helps...

I read some where in this forum that exact job title should not b a problem the job responsibilities should match with the closest NOC code. There is one article from David Cohen "
Code:
There is often confusion about whether or not an individual is eligible to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, because their job title might differ from those listed in the announced 38 qualifying occupations. Job titles for a particular occupation can vary across different countries, different industries and even different employers, but the duties performed in the occupation are more important than the job title when it comes to determining eligibility. This month’s edition of our Newsletter highlights two of the 38 qualifying occupations—University Professors, and College and Other Vocational Instructors. A closer look at each occupation shows that there are more eligible applicants than the job titles initially suggest"

Thanks to you all for your guides and supports.

By the way, I have checked the list of 38 wanted jobs in the NOC, and it seems I cannot easily fit my job experience in them (I have been Industrial Engineering & Planning Expert; but couldn't find this or sth similar to it in the list. Any idea?)
So another option that I have is to "have an offer of arranged employment" from Canada, right?
My question is, should this job offer be related to my previous working experiences? Should it mention that I will be employed with .... position upon receiving my visa, or what?

I appreciate your replies.

Immigration Canada needs to believe that you have the ability to do the job you get a job offer for or you may get refused so it can not be too far from your previous experiences.

Thanks. Another question:
Can I include my girl-friend (who I am intending to get marride with her maybe in the next 2-3 years) in my application? Is there a way to include her in the application, like by getting engaged or what?

yes, you can include your partner in your application
And no need for her to be my wife or married partner, right?
