Hi everyone

Can i work in Canada with a visitor visa? I´ve been looking for job offers from my country but they say i must be in Canada first in order to be considered to a job. I´ve sent several postings but i receive no response.
So, is there a way i can enter Canada as a tourist, start looking for jobs, and the apply for a work permit after getting a job offer inside canada??
What are my chances in getting a job while holding a visitor visa?? or what are my chances in getting a job offer outside Canada? :/

please help! thaks

It is illegal to work in Canada as a visitor. To work in Canada, you will need to obtain an approved work permit first. Before you can apply for the work permit, your employer will need to obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion (LMO). As part of the LMO process, your employer will need to advertise the job for at least a month to prove that no Canadian could be found for the role.

Unfortunately many / most employers are unwilling to go through the LMO process because it takes time, effort and money - and there's no guarantee of approval at the end of it all. However some certainly are successful in finding employers. So if it's important to you, then by all means keep trying.

hey, I got approved for a IEC program from within Canada.
I sent my documents for stage one back to my family in Australia, who sent them to the consulate in Sydney, I got my conditional acceptance letter 2-3 weeks later after all that was approved.
I done the online application for Stage 2 a few days later and sent that away, a few weeks later I had the letter I needed to take to the border.
Basically I couldve left and came back to Canada straight away, but I spent a week in Mexico.
Came back across the border and got my permit, open for two years.

I was told I couldnt do it from within Canada, but I just had to be a visitor for a few months, you only get a limit of 6months without a visa to live in Canada for Australians. I had a criminal record and that didnt even stop me. So you could be here, meet employers as long as you get through the border(dont take work clothes or anything when you come here, they will look through your bag and deny you cause you have intent to work as a visitor).

Hope this helps, good luck
