Hi,

I got my education credentials evaluated by WES and the report has the Canadian Equivalency Summary as "Bachelors degree and master's degree from a non-recognized institution". Does it mean that i cannot claim points for my masters degree under the Express Entry rule.

Has anyone faced this issue and went through the process.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Under "CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS", it should list the two degrees and mention "Canadian Equivalency:". Check what that field says for each degree.

Thanks for your reply.

For Bachelors Degree, it says

Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years)

For Masters Degree, it says

Canadian Equivalency: Master's degree from a non recognized institution

Unfortunately, you can only claim Bachelors based on this report. You can try asking WES for a reassessment if you believe that your institution must be recognized, people have done that in the past but the chances of successful reassessment are rather slim.

Asivad, I just received my wes report 10 minutes ago (10:00 pm !). It says:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credential Authentication: Official transcripts were sent directly by the institution
Country: XXXX
Credential: XXXXXX
(Diploma of Vocational Training)
Year: 2009
Awarded by: National University
Institution Status: Recognized
Major/Specialization: Software Engineering
Canadian Equivalency: Diploma (two years)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have a Canadian bachelor here in Canada, so can I claim the option Two or more certificates, diplomas or degress. One must be for a program of three or more years? Thank you very much !

Assuming that is a post secondary diploma (NOT a post graduate diploma) I would have to say that you cannot use that to claim '2 or more..' option. I might be wrong here and there are others who hold different opinions but no member has yet confirmed passing CIC eligibility after making that selection so I remain skeptical about making that choice without having post graduate education.

By saying "passing CIC eligibility", do you mean when we have to submit document after receiving ITA? I added the diploma in my EE profile, but I didn't see any box to change to the "2 or more" option. Worst case scenario, if I decide to go ahead with the "2 or more" option, and my app got rejected, will it be considered misrepresentation?

Yes, that's what I meant. I haven't seen any confirmations from members who got PR after making this choice leading to additional points. They might be out there but I haven't heard from them on the forum. It won't be considered misrepresentation if the rationale behind making this choice is explained in the post ITA application. At worst, it will lead to a refusal because your points may fall below the draw cutoff that got you the ITA.
