I am planning to apply to WES for EC evaluation.

I have attained a Master's degree from UK University, Bachelor's from Indian University.

My 10th and 12th Grade from Indian Schools.

I am aware my Under and Post graduate qualifications need to be evaluated for ECA.

Should I include my school certificates (Higher Secondary and Matriculation) also for EC evaluation? Please enlighten.

Not required.

Even Bachelors is optional. If your Masters has been provisionally evaluated as Masters, just get ECA done for that. CIC awards points for the highest degree alone UNLESS you are claiming "Two or more degrees, diplomas or certificates".

Oh ok. Since I pay WES any way, wouldn't it be a good idea to evaluate both Master's and Undergraduate together in the same application?

Ok this situation raises another doubt. Will I get 126 points for the documents that will qualify for Masters. Or Bachelor's and Master's are two different degrees with one of them spanning 3+ years - fetches 119.

Thanks Asivad Anac.

You will have to pay WES for EACH degree so assessing 2 of them will be more expensive than assessing just 1 of them.

If you evaluate your Masters alone and WES comes back with a Masters assessment, you will get 126 points. I would strongly recommend that you check provisional assessment for both your credentials before deciding if you are going to go with assessing one or both of them.

Hmm I have verified my UK degree equivalency in canada already. The result returned as Masters in canada too.

But I didn't know I should pay for each degree separately. I understand if both degrees are assessed in two separate applications, then probably it would cost.
I entered all data (2 Schools, Bachelor, Masters - together 4) by logging into my WES account and this is the breakup showed to me:

ECA Package - CAD 200
Standard Delivery - CAD 7
Harmonised Sales Tax (13%) - CAD 26.91

Total payable - CAD 233.91

Are you sure evaluating each degree need to be paid individually??

That does appear to be fine. I'm presuming you have opted for Document by Document evaluation.

Hmm. You've advised to not include School mark sheet certificates here.

But since I evaluate both Master's and Bachelor's, how much would I get??

126 or 119 points???

I would still recommend to not bother with evaluating school or Bachelors if your Masters is provisionally evaluated as Canadian Masters. You will get 126 points for a Masters ECA.

No. You will score the highest points entirely based on your Canadian Masters.

I evaluated my MSC and BSC at the same time and I did not pay extra. However, it cost more to send my transcripts to WES. Also, WES required verification of my BSc while it did not require verification of my MSc cos it was from the UK.
Therefore, if you evaluate MSc alone, it will likely be faster.

Will he be able to get full points under Skills transferability factor if he does not evaluate both degrees?

Yes. Provided the degree evaluated is Masters.

The hierarchy is PhD > Masters/Entry-to-practice degree > Bachelors + post-bachelors diploma/certificate > Bachelors > Post secondary diploma

Anything above Bachelors is sufficient to help you be eligible for highest points on Skills Transferability.

Hello,

I am thinking of getting my wife's ECA done. I have below queries:

1. She has completed Diploma in computers from Mumbai Univ., India post SSC. So, that would be 10+3. Which category it would be for ECA? How much points will I get for her 3 yr diploma (8 points?)

2. She has also done 1 year correspondence diploma in marketing. I doubt this will count?

3. Post marriage, the passport is updated with her new name(surname+middle name). However, the educational docs are in her old name. Will this be ok? Is the ECA report required with her new name? How will it be done?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Amy

This could possibly get you 8 points if WES evaluates this as a 3 year diploma.

2. She has also done 1 year correspondence diploma in marketing. I doubt this will count?

The only way to know for sure is by checking on the WES site ---> http://www.wes.org/ca/immigrants/preliminary.asp

ECA will be issued on the same name as educational credentials but I don't imagine this would be a problem, you can highlight this in the LOE and that should suffice. If you're worried about this, you could either get their name legally changed and attach those documents or get an affidavit prepared which highlights that these are various names of the same individual.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Amy
