Hi Everyone,

It has been a loong long while..I got married in Canada in 2012 and never been able to apply for PR unfortunately. Before my visa expired, I came back to Istanbul( july 2013) and we are separated now ( since august 2014). We are not divorced yet. My ex-husband says it is much easier to get divorced if I go to Canada back for an uncontested divorce..

My question is, do you think I might be able to get a tourist visa since I never applied for PR for so many years..I think they will not grant me visa but i just wanted to ask you..

Thanks so much and hope everyone here gets the PR soon, it is hard to stay away..

Have a great day,

Tourist Visa and PR are completely different. I do not see any conflict. You can apply for a tourist visa.

Thanks for the reply.

I know they are completely different but I just wanted to ask. CIC may be suspicious since I am still married there but I will be going there to sign the documents ( affidavit of service / The form informing me that I am being sued.) and i will see some of my friends and come back..I also have been working since more than a year..I think I will try that, could not fill the forms for pr but filling the divorce forms :'(

Very sorry about your situation. God Willing it will be okay soon. Don't worry!

Go ahead and apply for the tourist visa and if they ask you can tell them the reason why you are going exactly. From my experience it will help if you have a return ticket back to Istanbul as well.

Successfully applying for a TRV means proving your ties to home are stronger than to Canada. Include what you have told us about your itinerary. Also, perhaps a letter from the divorce lawyer about the required signatures, where you plan to stay, proof of your employment and resources to pay for your trip, any family ties back home. Good luck as you work through this stressful time of your life.
