Hello, we need advice if anyone out there has any?
We have been trying to get spousal pr since Feb 2014. We still have got NOWHERE with it. Our 17 son was diagnosed with cancer at the immigration medical in Feb 14 and we were told we couldn't not apply for pr until he got a clear health check. (This was a CIC agent). After our son had had his operation in the UK (as we couldn't get coverage in Canada) in July 14 we decided to ask when exactly he would be eligible to apply for pr. A different agent at CIC told us that we were given incorrect information and that we COULD have applied for it back in Feb. :'(
We applied for PR 30 July 14 from within Canada. We had our forms returned to us in September as they said we hadn't used the correct forms. We had used the forms for July, the only ones available when we applied and they wanted August forms
We sent the pr application back having changed the forms. Our applicated was received on October 17th and we STILL haven't had an ACKNOWLEGEMENT from CIC. Every time we ring up CIC, we get a different answer. The first stage of spousal approval has been done, it hasn't been done, it hasn't even been started on yet.
Add to that our son has had to go back to the UK for his next cancer treatment because we need an acknowledgement by CIC that our application has been received. We have gone to Health BC, our MLA and his immigration assistant has even rang CIC and has got NOWHERE.
We applied for our son with cancer to have a study permit, so he could carry on studies at his own pace. Our application was received online in December 2014. We uploaded everything asked of us and received an email back 3 days later, saying his application had been refused because we hadn't uploaded his passport details. Well, I rang CIC because on my electronic form on the CIC site I could see the passport details and next to them a check mark and the words uploaded! The agent at CIC told me to send a photo of the details to a link which she sent me and she said It would be looked at again and we would be given the permit. Guess what? The reply came back that there was no granting of the permit and that there was no appeal process! And the only way to contest it was to engage an in-Canada lawyer! I don't know about you, but I call that daylight ROBBERY. What on earth is the deal here? They mess up, you send them the proof and they disregard it?
We applied from outside Canada and then we are told that the inside applicants are allowed to work now!
The low point for me, apart from having to let my son leave Canada without me-with cancer, was when the immigration specialist told me "It's a real pity your husband is a Canadian citizen"
Talk about insult to injury.
Can anyone relate to this? We are on the verge of giving up. We live in a really tough part of Canada, Fort St John in BC where my husband has a senior managerial position. It is really hard to retain let alone engage workers because it is so tough. And yet we are treated so shabbily. We are not entitled to healthcare even though my husband pays taxes.
We have done ALL that was asked of us and we are still going to have to pay to keep our status in check and for a medical each year until they get their acts together at CIC. (my sons and I ) which is adding salt to the wounds. We moved here believing fair play. We never imagined for one minute how disorganised and incompetent CIC really and truly are.
I know they have a huge backlog of applications but honestly, there is no excuse for the chaos. We are paying good money here for a service and they are not doing their jobs. And they really don't care less about your personal circumstances. So now we know why there are so few people in Canada and why they are always asking for people to immigrate. But then they make it so difficult why should we bother?
My whole family has been turned upside down because of this uncaring attitude. It would only take someone with an ounce of commonsense and compassion and this whole thing could have been sorted.
It would really be great to hear of anyone else having gone through a similar situation and if it was resolved.
Thanks for reading, I know it's a lot!
