way to expedite online visa application

I am an international student in California, I have submitted my visa application online on march 30th, and my trip is coming on April 30th. So far I have heard nothing from the visa office, can any one suggest any way to expedite the processing time? Is there chance to get the visa stamp in time at all? I heard even if I heard back from the visa office, I still need to mail my passport in and will need another 10 days or so to get it back. SO worried now...

My situation is a little complex, I have submitted my tourist visa app on April 16th online . I am currently living and working with a opt visa in San Francisco however i am not a U.S citizen. My parents and i are planning to go to canada for a vacation on may 17th.My parents had received approval for their tourist visa and i have not. i am wondering will going to la consulate and letting them know my situation will help expidite my visa process the day off? Also my parents applied for their Visa back home in Indonesia. Please Advised!

Did you and your parents apply at the same time? I don't think it is going to help at all visiting the LA office if you have already applied online. I went there trying to request urgent processing, they basically throw my application package out because I already applied online weeks ago. And they just said: you can do nothing now, go home and wait! so rude!

Just received my request passport email, and I mailed it to LA office, should arrive tomorrow at noon. Cross my finger they will return it back to me in a week. Keep praying

My parents applied 4 days before me. Good luck with your case, thanks for saving me couple of hundreds bucks for not flying to canada consolute in LA just to get dissapointed! Lastly, you still need to send out your passport even though you applied online?
