Want to visit my family in Canada

My wife of 5 plus years just applied for a visa temporary residency to visit Canada we filled out all required documents and gave them others that we though that they might want. I am Canadian and we have two children with dual citizenship. I would like to take my wife and children to visit my brother who is very ill and also visit my other family members in Canada.
Her Visa was refused and we where given some lame excuse. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone give me any useful information.

Unfortunately stories like yours are pretty typical. From CIC's standpoint, they believe there's a risk your wife will overstay her visit since she has strong ties to Canada (i.e. everyone else in the family has Canadian citizenship).

To overcome these issues, your wife will have to prove she has strong ties to her homeland. Examples of proof are: land ownership, business ownership, job (i.e. pay stubs, letter from employer), family, bank accounts, etc.

All the family she has is in the Dominican Republic except her new extended family [my family] and she has a 2 bedroom house with swimming pool also a two bedroom apartment also other farm land. All these paper where given to the the officer.

Hi Doug
You should review the preparation of your application for temporary visa( supporting documentation). Even though the decision is mainly at the discretion of the visa officer ,usually applications from upper middle class people like your case get approved,but they must be well presented.
May be you should talk to a visa consultant to help you with the application.
