want to know when will I receive my passport back?

Hi everyone,my application details are as following:
Applied on :November30,2010
File transferred to CHC on :8th April,2011
File received at CHC on :28th April,2011
Medical and passport request on :2nd June,2011
Medical and passport submitted on :4th July,2011

Here,I want to know that how long it will take for CHC to send my passport back as my hubby lived in US and he wants to come back to India in this Diwali so we are very much worried about his passport in particular as online application status shows it's IN PROCESS and we didn't get reply from CHC regarding further processing...

According to this Forum posts, if your application is being processing in Delhi you could expect it back any time from the middle of this month. How long it could go further depends on your luck!!.

Meanwhile, I guess your hubby might have sent his PP to you for submission. When it is received back to your address you could arrange to send his passport to him by a person with an authorization letter, which could be safe.

Keep in mind that as per Govt. of India rules sending Indian passports out of the country is illegal /

How did your hubby submitted his PP while he is in US. Did he courier it.?. Any how if the passport is coming back to your address you could arrange to send his passport to him by a person with an authorization letter. My spouse sent me passport through courier and then I sent passports of both of us to Delhi Visa office...

Today is 11th September and still I got only RPRF receipt on 2nd August,2011.Oh God,tell them to send me passports alongwith visa plssss!!!!

I got my PR on 17th September,2010 alongwith my husband who lives in USA.After getting it,I sent my hubby's passport through courier.But unfortunately,the passport was put on hold at Mumbai custom office with the fact that Indian passports can not be couriered like this and it is illegal.My hubby and I are deeply worried about its consequences.
Here I want to ask to the experienced members of this forum that what will the custom office take action against me and my husband?What should be done at our side so that we can get my hubby's passport back?
and last but not least,what are the safe ways to send him passport to USA so that he can come back to India and can celebrate this Diwali with us?
Pls help me guys it's really a crucial period.Thanks.

Hi Vakta,

By now you already know that Indian passports cannot leave/enter the borders of Indian soil.

I am doing some research on the topic...in the meantime you go thru the following information. I will keep adding information for you.

My suggestion is to contact the Customs office ASAP. The penalty for such event is anything between Rs 5000 to Rs 50,000 and 2 yr prison OR BOTH

You and probably also your husband will be implicated but dont worry...since you did not know that sending /receiving Indian passports in and out of India is Illegal you may plead your case accordingly with the Customs. Where do you live Vakta? Is is possible to contact the people as suggested below...the people might have left but the Offices are still viable...try contacting them....or contact the # which came with the Customs office letter.

You were warned by so many members earlier NOT to send your Passports by mail/courier, still you did it....Now bear the consequences.... As mitali has put it, 50,000 fine & 2 years imprisonment.
Best way out is go personally to the Mumbai Customs Office & meet the concerned personnel..... Plead innocence & ignorance to your actions & request them for an early solution which of course does not involve imprisonment, but maximum fine (to resolve this). You will probably have to file some indemnity bond too...
