waiting time to get the file number

i applied my application with a confirmation to apply my papers with the government since October 2008 and so far i didn't receive my file number, how long usually it takes ??
as i understood that there is no way to track it until i have the file number which make it harder

Hi Abdoush,

You've been waiting 9 months and that's a long time. Are you sure your visa office received your documentS? Do you have confirmed delivery? It also depends whether your visa office is one of the busier ones.

You can send a fax or register a letter or courier a document giving your specifics, i.e. name, birthday, address, and date when visa office received your package and tell them that you have not received any acknowledgement from them of any sort. Of course, remind them kindly that you have been waiting.
