waiting period for OHIP

Hi guys/gals

I was reading through the OHIP website and i states

The waiting period begins on the date you establish or re-establish residence in Ontario.

Now when they say establish residence in Ontario, do they mean when we land in Ontario and complete the required formalities at the airport or when we go and register at the Service Ontario Office.

could someone help me out with this?

Hi

It means the date you actually come to Ontario to live. If you land and then return to your country, it does not count as establishing residence.

You don’t have to go into Service Ontario the day you arrive. Once you move to Canada permanently bring in your airline ticket within the first 3 months to establish when the 3 month wait period should begin.
