Voluntarily renounce PR vs. revoking

Hello,

I lived in Canada for 10 years and have PR status. I moved back to Europe 3 years ago and now am not meeting my RO anymore (but I do have a fresh PR card valid until 2025). I will be travelling to visit my family for Christmas in a few weeks, and am wondering whether I should:
1. voluntarily renounce my PR status - if I need to do this, will this be processed in time?
2. renounce it at the border if questioned about my RO

Will it make any difference if I decide to move to Canada in the future (i.e. if I am 'stopped' at the border, does it 'look bad' on my future applications)?
I am planning to stay in Canada for 6 weeks and I am a visa-exempt country (would just require an ETA).

My main concern is my chances of re-application if I decide to move back to Canada in the future.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Personal opinion only: don't see any advantage in renouncing now, you can always do that later.

At border, just tell the truth: you're visiting now and hope to return sometime (soon?) but this is just a visit.

They may ask for more info or reasons you're not compliant with RO.

It seems to me, worst case scenario is they 'report' you and start process of looking at your PR status, potentially/maybe revoking in future. But they'll let you in.

Some chance they'll decide to kick the can down to another officer in future. Should it come to it, it gets revoked or you renounce in future.

It won't hurt your future app.

Warning though: it may well put a flag on your account for future entries and make it much less likely that you'll be treated leniently in future, i.e. if you plan to return in six months, you could get reported then.

So I am NOT suggesting your plan to visit is a good one, nor that it might not have unpleasant repercussions. Limited primarily to saying don't see why renouncing now would be advantageous.

No point renouncing at this moment.
