My wife and I arrived to Canada and they stamped her vistor visa but I can't tell if they gave her 6 months or not.
How can I tell if they gave her 6 months or not? what do they stamp or write if she is given less then 6 months???

Only the date of arrival is written.

Well on my wife's passport the officer added a stamp which shows the date of our arrival.

What would be shown on a passport if they do "not" give her 6 months???

Another date. Say you arrived today, April 8, 2011. If she's given say 2 months, June 7, 2011 will be written beside the stamped date.

oh great so I guess she was granted 6 months! I am doing a residency application for my wife and we were worried that she wasn't given the six months but with your answer it kept my at ease. Thank you.

yes, if there is no other date stated on the passport stamp then she is allowed six months from the date of entry
