My father is Indian national and have got visitor visa for 6 months. I hv two questions
1. When he enter within the limit of VISA stamping from Delhi his 6 months count from that date. His visa validiaty is up to Jan 20,2010 and suppose he comes in Canada on Oct 6 2009 then can he satys with us up to April 5 2010?
2. During this validiaty can we apply here in Canada for extension of another six months or so?
Thanks

Hi mmetha,

Yes. He has to exit Delhi within the 6 month validity of his visitor's visa. Technically if the immigration officer did not put a date on his passport when he lands in Canada he could stay here for 6 months. If your father files for extension 30 days before the expiration of his allowable stay, he is on implied status until a decision is made on his request.
